This city is going to celebrate a special kind of ‘Christmas Day’ in August itself, knowing the reason you will say, what is this?

Everywhere in the world, Christmas is celebrated on December 25. But there is a unique city which is going to celebrate its own kind of “Christmas Day” next month, but those in the know say that the special thing is not in this festival, but in this unique holiday destination situated on the seashore. The purpose of the festival is to show the tourists that this is a “great place” to visit during the festive season. This effort is being considered very unique with the aim of increasing tourism in the city.

Bridlington, East Yorkshire, will host a variety of Christmas activities for ‘Bridemas Day’ on August 7. This will include a screening of Will Ferrell’s Elf, festive activities on the beach and fun snacks.

The town’s panto, Jack and the Beanstalk, will see performers appear around the town, Bridlington’s Land Train will play festive tunes and historic sites will be decorated for the festival. Councillor Nick Coltish said although the day was unusual he hoped it would be fun.

Speaking to the BBC he said: “It’s certainly unusual to bring Christmas to the beach at the height of summer, but hopefully people will join in the festive fun.” Councillor Barbara Jefferson said Bridmas Day was “going to be a blast. The event aims to show that Bridlington isn’t just a summer destination”.

“It’s also a great place to be at Christmas time as we have lots of events and attractions for both residents and visitors, including panto at the spa and winter woodland events at Sewerby Hall and Gardens, Santa Express land trains and festive offers at our leisure centre.”

However the city’s top tourist attraction, RSPB Bempton Cliffs, home to around half a million seabirds, is hugely popular with tourists, with one recent five-star review calling it a “must visit” and “absolutely stunning”. The city’s main beach, Bridlington South Beach, also proves popular with tourists. Interestingly, the city is already famous for its festivals in a number of ways.
