In 2017, the International Basketball Federation lifted the ban on playing wearing hijab, but the Basketball Federation of France refused to lift the ban on hijab. In France, along with the players, coaches and referees were also prevented from wearing hijab.

At the same time, the female player said that despite being a good player, she has not been given the opportunity to play in the Olympics. Daiba Konate claimed that I could have made my place in the Olympics. But the ban on hijab separated me. Talking to Turkish broadcaster TRT World, Konate said that being in this situation is frustrating. I don’t know what to do. It is difficult for me to accept. I want to play basketball for a long time and I don’t want to leave it now.
‘Giving up the hijab is not an option’
She also said that she will never remove the hijab because it is a part of her life. Now giving up the hijab is not an option. On the question of playing in another country, she said, I believe that I should not need to go anywhere else to play. I want to stay in Paris with my family.
