Tomato Rasam Recipe: Tomato Rasam is a traditional South Indian soup which is not only delicious but also very beneficial for health. Talking about nutrition, tomatoes are used a lot in it, which contains vitamin C and protects against infection by strengthening the immune system. While the spices used in it are rich in antioxidants, which work to protect against free radicals. It also helps in improving digestion and relieving stomach problems. Turmeric and garlic present in it are rich in anti-inflammatory properties, which are useful in reducing inflammation and pain. In this way, if you want to keep diseases away in the rainy season, then you can make tomato rasam and drink it with rice or as a soup.

How To Make Tomato Rasam

Material:
4-5 ripe tomatoes
2 cups water
1 tablespoon toor dal (optional)
1 tsp oil or ghee
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
2-3 cloves of garlic
1-2 green chillies (chopped)
1 tablespoon tamarind pulp
1/2 tsp asafoetida (asafoetida)
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
curry leaves
Green coriander (for garnishing)
Salt to taste

Method: First boil the tomatoes and cool them and remove the peel. Now grind them in a mixer and make a puree. Now boil toor dal in water and cook it. Then grind it in a mixer. Heat oil or ghee in a pan and add mustard seeds and let them crackle.

Then add cumin seeds, asafoetida, and curry leaves. Add crushed garlic and green chilies and fry until light golden. Now add tomato puree and cook for 2-3 minutes. Now add tamarind pulp, turmeric powder, red chili powder, black pepper powder, and salt and mix it well.

Add 2 cups of water and the ground lentils and bring to a boil. Now let it cook on medium flame for 10-15 minutes. Finally, garnish with coriander leaves and drink hot tomato rasam as a soup or serve with rice.
