Review Flight is a praiseworthy attempt in the flight thriller genre ss

Review: Many action films have been made on ‘Flight’ in foreign films. Some of these have also become very popular. Nonstop, Passenger 57, Die Hard 2, Flight Plan, Snakes on the Plane etc. Some time ago, in another Hollywood film 7500, a very good depiction of the accident related to the flight was also done. There have been some attempts in Hindi films too but most are related to hijacks. Neerja, Airlift, Hijack, Hawaizaada and most recently Gunjan Saxena. No strong action film has been seen in Hindi films on the problems that happen inside the flight. Released on Amazon Prime Video last month, “Flight” has probably seen a new form of in-flight action for the first time. There are some shortcomings in the film, but this type of action has been seen for the first time in Hindi films.

Ranveer Malhotra (Mohit Chadha) leaves for Dubai for a meeting with an investor before revealing the massive corruption in his father’s airplane manufacturing company. The corrupt officials of the company make a plan to eliminate him in the plane itself. When sleep breaks in the flight, Ranveer sees that the air hostess has been shot. The cockpit is locked, the parachutes are disconnected, and there is no way of communication with anyone. Pilots are also not responding. From here begins the exercise of keeping yourself alive in this moving flight. Can Ranveer save the flight, can he himself survive, can he get his corrupt officials punished; This is in the next story.

The film is thrilling. Director Suraj Joshi has come from the world of advertising films and he knows the skill of saying big things in less time, so this film does not waste time. Once the action starts, the film does not go on any other track. Sooraj has co-written the story with the film’s hero and friend Mohit Chadha and Babita Ashiwal. Hard work has been done on the story because every scene is tight and not a single character enters the script just like that. Mohit achieved the distinction of being the first runner up in the reality show named Zee Cinestar’s Khoj in 2004. He has acted in Tamil, Telugu and some Hindi films. She is very beautiful to look at and has a great personality too. He looks good as the CEO of a rich airplane making company and doesn’t go out of character throughout the film. No superhero effort or action has been done. Along with it there is a seasoned actor like Pawan Malhotra whose role is small but very important. When Ranveer’s plane disappears, he does not take any step which is not according to his role. Without shouting, he is seen trying to handle the situation in such a restrained manner that the sample of his acting masterclass is seen once again. Zakir Hussain is in a small role as a villain. Zakir’s face acts. In just a few scenes in this film, he once again proved that it is necessary to understand the role before playing it.

This is the first feature film of cinematographer Deepak Pandey, so there is little fun in his work. Most of the film has been shot inside the flight itself, so the precautions that should be taken while shooting the action have not been seen. After the bomb blast in the flight, the difficulties in the flight have been ignored. The bizarre scene of closing the flight hatch with a bathtub also seems unusual. There are many difficulties inside the flight flying on auto pilot which are not filmed properly by the cinematographer. Due to giving the responsibility of such a big film to the editor Rahul Mathur, who came from the world of TV, the case has been a bit weak. In one moment the beats are stopped in the sequence, while in the second moment everything looks normal. There is tension in the situation in the film and it is not. Here the association with the film stops. There was no scope for music, yet the background music has been composed well by Smriti Minocha.

The film is very well made. There can be a place for such films in Hindi films. In Vikramaditya Motwane’s film ‘Trapped’, how the same actor (Rajkummar Rao) gets locked in a flat and somehow there is no way to get out or survive. That thing is not visible in the flight. The ending of the film is as expected, yet it justifies the expenditure on special effects. It is a small film, but the film is strong. Must see
