The police has achieved a major success in the operation being conducted in the highly Naxal-affected Aurangabad district. The police has arrested two Maoists including the most wanted sub-zonal commander of the banned Naxal organization CPI Maoist, who had a bounty of Rs. 3 lakhs on his head. The police has also recovered arms from the arrested Maoists. The Bihar-Jharkhand police was actively searching for the sub-zonal commander for the last seven years and he was wanted by the police in 21 cases.

Arrest made on intelligence input

Aurangabad Police Captain Swapna Gautam Meshram said on Friday evening that intelligence information was received from reliable sources that most wanted notorious Naxalite sub-zonal commander Rajendra Singh, carrying a reward of Rs 3 lakh, is hiding in Bela Khaira village of Mali police station in Nabinagar. On this information, she immediately formed a joint team of SSB and police under the leadership of Assistant Commandant of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Dharmendra Singh and Mali Police Station Head Pradeep Kumar Singh to arrest the Naxalite. In the light of the information, the team immediately reached Bela Khaira village and surrounded the house of Lutan Singh. After this, in the raid, two Naxalites were caught from the spot with weapons.

The most wanted sub zonal commander had a reward of Rs 3 lakh on his head

The arrested Naxalites include Rajendra Singh (57), resident of Sori village of Nabinagar, a most wanted Naxal sub-zonal commander with a reward of Rs 3 lakh on his head, and Vijay Paswan (42), a hardcore Naxalite resident of Bela Khaira. During this, the police recovered two country-made pistols of 315 bore, 13 live cartridges and a mobile phone from both the Naxalites.

A total of 21 cases are registered against the sub-zonal commander in Bihar-Jharkhand, he was wanted for seven years

Aurangabad Police Captain Swapna Gautam Meshram said that arrested Naxal Rajendra Singh has 11 cases registered against him in Aurangabad district, 05 in Gaya district and 05 in Palamu district of Jharkhand. In all these cases, police of both Bihar and Jharkhand states were searching for him for the last seven years in a total of 21 cases and Bihar government had also announced a reward of three lakhs on his arrest. Apart from this, more cases can be registered against him, for which police is investigating his crime history. After the arrest, both the Naxals have been sent to judicial custody by registering case number 146/24 against them in Mali police station under section 25 (1-B) A, 26/35 Arms Act of IPC.
