Dulal, the operator of the litti shop, told Local 18 that for the past 15 years, litti chokha is being prepared at his shop on the occasion of Sawan without garlic and onion. This initiative has been taken keeping in mind religious beliefs, so that everyone can taste litti on the occasion of Sawan. Regarding the recipe of making litti, Dulal said that while preparing litti on Sawan, sattu, celery, mangrela, green chillies and other spices are mixed well and filled in the dough ball and cooked in a coal tandoor. Chokha is prepared by mixing boiled potatoes with mustard oil, salt and tomatoes. Then hot litti chokha is given to the customers with coriander, mint chutney and cucumber.
Daily consumption of 35 kg flour and 10 kg sattu
On normal days, customers are served litti chokha mixed with onion and garlic in salad. The price of plain litti chokha at his shop is 8 rupees and the price of litti with ghee is 10 rupees per piece. Seller Dulal told that his shop consumes 20 to 35 kg flour and 8 to 10 kg sattu daily. 500 to 1000 pieces of litti are sold at his shop daily and he operates his shop from 12:00 noon to 7:00 pm.
