On Monday afternoon, heavy rain suddenly started in the area. It is being said that about 70 mm of rain was recorded in one hour. Shift in-charge of Dudhichhua PN Singh along with some of his colleagues had gone to the mine area to inspect the machines and the work place.

While returning, a piece of stone came on the road along with rainwater and their Bolero got stuck in the strong current. When the increasing pressure of water started pushing the Bolero in the opposite direction, everyone including the shift in-charge got scared, but they did not lose their senses and jumped out leaving the Bolero in the middle of the current.

Meanwhile, the Bolero was swept away by the pressure of water and the passengers were saved. After the video of the incident surfaced, everyone who saw it was shocked. Due to the heavy rain on Monday, the road in NCL’s Khariya coal mine has been reported to have been washed away. In many other mines too, the situation became abnormal due to the sudden rain.

NCL spokesperson Ram Vijay Singh said that in view of the monsoon, many arrangements are made in the mines by assessing the rainfall records of the past years, but due to much more rain than expected, some unexpected situations were created.
