Hockey India organised the 2nd Hockey India Sub Junior Academy Championship in New Delhi from 4 August 2024 to 11 August 2024. In this, RK Roy Hockey Academy of Bihar became the winner by defeating the top hockey team of the country. For the first time after the partition of Bihar, a hockey team from Bihar became the winner at the national level. Ajitesh Rai, the only international hockey player from divided Bihar and former captain of the Indian hockey team, and former national hockey players Arunima Roy and Abhishek Roy, living in London, founded the RK Roy Hockey Academy to pay tribute to their late parents and to develop hockey in Bihar.
After getting recognition from Hockey India two months ago, the team created history by winning in a short span of time. All the financial needs of the team have been met by the family of RK Roy Academy.
According to information, the country’s best hockey academy Ghumannehra Hockey Academy, Haryana defeated Jai Bharat Hockey Academy, Haryana in the quarter-finals and entered the semi-finals by defeating Round Glass Hockey Academy, Punjab.
In the semi-finals, RK Hockey Academy defeated Haryana 3-0 and entered the finals. Where they faced the country’s top team Army Boys Hockey. After being tied 2-2 till the stipulated time, they created history by defeating them 3-2 in the penalty shootout. Whereas, in the girls category, RK Roy Hockey Academy remained at the fourth position.
Giving this information, national hockey player Yogesh Kumar congratulated RK Roy Hockey Academy’s captain Vinay, coach Anurag and manager Danish. Academy secretary Anjani Kumar congratulated Danish, Shashi, Anand, Suraj, Raja, Amarendra, Soni, Vikas, Raja, and Abhay associated with the management.
