There was a loud explosion as soon as the truck fell on the railway track from a height of about 30 feet from the Gujaini bridge in Kanpur. The pebbles spread along the tracks created a cloud of dust. This spread panic among the people. On August 16, the Sabarmati Express had derailed at a distance of 300 meters from the accident site.

Sushil, an auto driver from the area, said that there was a loud sound when the truck fell, while sparks also came out after hitting the OHE. The OHE wire was hanging down, due to which no one gathered the courage to go near it due to the fear of getting an electric shock. Some people were definitely making videos from a distance. The police chased them away and took them to the side. Due to the dense darkness at the spot, there were a lot of difficulties in the rescue work in the beginning.

The OHE line and track were inspected using the light of the mobile. After about an hour, the entire track was inspected by calling for a search light and dragon line.

DCP West inspected the spot

DCP West Rajesh Kumar Singh, ACP Panki Shweta Kumari inspected the spot. People were instructed to stay away from the track and OHE line. DCP West directed the Panki Chowki Incharge to get the status of the work and other information from the railway’s technical team. Police and RPF also inspected the track for a long distance.


Railway officials of Jhansi division took the information

After the accident, Jhansi division officials gathered information about the incident from track and electrical engineers. Railway experts were fearing that the falling of the truck would also affect the down line, due to which the track was inspected.


The OHE line was damaged due to a truck falling from the ROB on the national highway, due to which the operation of trains on the upline is affected. Trains are being sent from the down line. The repair work of the line is going on with the help of tower wagons of Ghatampur, Orai and Pukhrayan.
