A man troubled by rats had to pay a heavy price for trying to get rid of them. In this effort, his entire house was destroyed. He did not expect that the condition of his house was so bad that now the situation has become such that due to the attack he has been forced to think about going out. Whereas the pest control people say that they have never seen such a situation before.
David Hollard, 42, says rats have wreaked havoc on his property, aptly named Witts End, leaving it a health hazard. The vermin have tunnelled through insulation, destroyed the kitchen ceiling, gnawed through water mains and even chewed through the electricity supply six times.
David, from Pucklechurch, near Bristol, believes the problem started in June 2020 because of nearby dogs. He first noticed the rats around three months ago and immediately reported the issue to the landlord of the neighbouring house. But progress on a solution stalled and the family began to hear eerie scratching noises in the ceiling.

This meant he was forced to take drastic action. The father of three has now destroyed his kitchen in his determination to eradicate the rats and stop their entry points.
Process engineer David, who lives with his wife Sacha, 34, said his three young children have been forced to live with their grandparents due to the ongoing crisis. The father is even considering “selling his house and moving somewhere else”.
The hot weather has made the situation worse, with the family spending more than £1,000 on pest control and electrician visits. One employee from a pest control company said the infestation was one of the worst he had seen on the job in decades.
