A rare star seen in 100 years was seen, astronomers found the reason for hiding


American geoscientists were trying to find out the reason for the end of the seven-year-long eclipse when they came across this rare sight. Astronomers at the University of Washington saw that a distant star which was looking very dim suddenly started shining. In the next two and a half years, it started shining brightly. When it was investigated, it was found that this star is rarely visible and that too not visible to many researchers. Due to this the scientists had assumed that it would be far away, hence its brightness was dim. But the story turned out to be different.

Lost shine because of partner
The researchers named it Gaia17bpp and explained why it was not visible. Told that the blurred appearance of this star is not due to any internal change in space but due to a companion of the star. This companion brings a cloud of dust and surrounds this star. That is, in a way, an eclipse takes place on that star.

Astronomers told that both the stars have been traveling in their orbit for about a thousand years and keep orbiting each other. Researcher Anastasios Tzanidakis said, we believe that this star is part of an exceptionally rare type of binary system. It lies between a large, bloated old star – Gaia17bpp – and a smaller companion star surrounded by a vast disk of dusty material. When we investigated the eclipses between 2012 and 2019, we saw this rare sight. Researchers have even claimed that the dust emanating from the White Dwarf is enough to fill the space between the Sun and the Earth in our Solar System.

How did stars pair
It was an unprecedented discovery, Tsanidakis said. In the history of 66 years, we could not find any other signs of dimming of this star. If we had investigated it after a few years, it might not even be visible. If so, then we have to find out how this pair of stars was formed.
