A person doing a normal private job and living in a kutcha house was shocked when he received an electricity bill of Rs 23 lakh. When the victim went to the electricity department, the officer came to his senses and said that he will correct the electricity bill.
The matter is of the Cantt area of Kanpur metropolis where Chandrashekhar lives and works in a private job and comes from a very ordinary family. He told that his house is made of mud and there is no roof on the house. Chandrashekhar’s house has a tin roof. He used to deposit his electricity bill on time every month, but for the last five months, the electricity bill had not come to his house. When he went to the electricity office and told about not getting his electricity bill, the electricity department prepared a bill and gave it to him. When he saw the bill, he was shocked because he was handed a bill of Rs 23 lakh 94 thousand 512. He was shocked to see this bill. He immediately went to Kesco headquarters and informed the top officials about his problem. After this, the department has assured that the bill will be corrected.

Kesco MD Samuel Paul said that cases of wrong bills have been reported from many places across the city. The department has started working on a new software on which some errors are coming to the fore. Consumers’ bills are being updated continuously in the system, but despite this, the problem of increased bills and wrong bills has come to the fore for about 6,000 to 8,000 people in the city. Chandrashekhar’s case has also come to light and his bill has been corrected. He said that if anyone gets a wrong bill, he should not panic and go to the department and complain about it. Bills of all such people will be corrected.
