A woman died under suspicious circumstances in Nalanda on Sunday. The matter is of Sadbhavna Nagar Panhessa village under Nalanda police station area. The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Devi, 24-year-old wife of Pradeep Chaudhary. The parents are alleging dowry murder.

Regarding the incident, the deceased’s brother told that Jyoti was married last year. Everything went well for a few days after the marriage. After this the in-laws family started demanding money. Also Jyoti started being harassed. Meanwhile, a daughter was born in the month of February. After this, they started demanding Rs 50 thousand and started pressurizing them to bring money from their parents’ house.

An incident of assault had also taken place 4 days ago. On Sunday morning, the in-laws strangled her to death and hanged the body to convert the murder into suicide. Information about the incident was received from nearby people on Sunday morning. Jyoti, daughter of Vinesh Chaudhary, resident of Durgapur, Pawapuri OP, was married to Pradeep Chaudhary, resident of Panhessa village of Nalanda police station area, in the month of February 2023.

Nalanda police station incharge Nishi Kumar said that on receiving information about the incident, the police immediately reached the spot and took possession of the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The body was lying on the ground. 7 people including the husband have been taken into custody. The parents are accusing her of dowry murder. At present the police is busy investigating the entire matter.
