Case of Rajouri Garden area, patrolling policeman caught him while he was running away

New Delhi. In Rajouri Garden area on Sunday late night, after an argument, a young man killed his wife Manya (20) by slitting her throat with a knife. After committing the crime, the accused was running away leaving the body in the car. Seeing the accused running away under suspicious circumstances, a policeman caught him. During interrogation, he revealed that he had killed his wife. The police took the body into custody and registered a case of murder. After investigation, the police arrested the accused.

Raghuveer Nagar resident accused Gautam (21) has told during interrogation that he married Manya in March without the consent of their families. But due to not having any work, both were living in their respective houses. Both used to meet each other outside. During this time, Manya started pressuring him to live together. On Sunday night, both met in Titarpur to discuss this matter. Where after an argument, the accused slit his throat with a knife. A police officer of the West District said that on Sunday late night at 1:20, Havildar Ajay posted at Khyala police station told the police that they have caught a person who was roaming around without a shirt under suspicious circumstances. On receiving the information, the police of Rajouri Garden police station reached the spot and took the accused youth into custody and interrogated him. During interrogation, the accused claimed that he had killed his wife in the car and was running away leaving the body in the car. The police examined his car parked near Shivaji College, in which Manya’s blood-soaked body was lying. The police have arrested the accused. Police are verifying his statement.

Kidnapping and forced marriage

The victim’s family’s lawyer Ashutosh Pandey said that the victim’s family was not aware of the two getting married. The accused had kidnapped the victim in March. It is alleged that the accused misbehaved with the victim and then married her forcefully to escape the case. Ashutosh Pandey said that Manya’s family consists of her father Raju, her mother, two brothers and three sisters. Her father drives a tempo. He alleged that after the victim went missing in March, her family members had lodged a complaint at the Khyala police station, but the police had registered a missing person’s case. Then after the victim returned, the police registered a POCSO case on her statement, calling the accused a minor. The family members complained about this in the court. After which the accused stabbed the victim with a knife in Paschim Vihar East area on May 16 and injured her badly. She was treated at AIIMS. It is alleged that the Paschim Vihar police station challaned the accused instead of arresting him. After that, the family members had appealed to the court for action in the case registered against the accused. The hearing in this case was to be held in the court on 7 September.

Demand for action against policemen

The lawyer said that the accused’s family was constantly harassing the victim’s side with the help of the police. The family has demanded action against those policemen. The family says that they will get Manya’s body post-mortem done only after action is taken against the accused policemen. The victim’s family reached the police headquarters on Monday and demanded action against the accused policemen. The top officials have assured action and sent them to the District Deputy Commissioner of Police.
