A young man was strangled to death in Gagaldei village under Shyampur Panchayat of Kahalgaon police station area of Bhagalpur district. On Thursday morning, the villagers saw the dead body in Bahiyar and immediately informed the police.
The deceased has been identified as Saurabh Kumar, a 35 -year -old son of Jago Mandal, a resident of Gagaldei village. Police have taken the body and sent it for postmortem. At present, no written complaint has been given to the police by the families of the deceased.
Controversy occurred during liquor party
At around 11 pm on Wednesday night, Saurabh along with his three friends went to drink alcohol in the Dhagarhashahi township near the village. It is feared that there was a dispute over something intoxicated by alcohol and angry friends strangled him to death. The body was later thrown into Bahiyar.

Illegal liquor business in the village
According to the villagers, illegal indigenous liquor is made and sold in the Dhagarhashahi settlement. Preliminary investigation has also revealed that there may be any dispute related to illegal sale of liquor behind the murder.
Police engaged in investigation
In view of the seriousness of the case, the police have started investigation by calling FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) and Dog Squad Team. The pottery used in the murder has been recovered from the scene. Saurabh used to take care of his family by doing wages. His wife is Bindu Devi and two daughters – Ruby and Chhaguri Kumari. The whole family is in deep shock and mourning is spread in the village.

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that the young man has been strangled to death. He also has bruises on his head. The case is being investigated and the arrest of criminals will be ensured soon.”
