Aamir Khan Apology: The film âAnimalâ, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, was released in theaters on December 1, 2023. The film did record breaking business at the box office but it also had to face a lot of opposition from the audience. The film was described as toxic masculinity and anti-women. Aamir Khanâs ex-wife Kiran Rao had also expressed support on this.
On Kiran Raoâs opinion, Sandeep Reddy Vanga had said that he should criticize Aamir Khanâs films before âAnimalâ. Vanga had also given the example of the song âKhambhe Jaisi Khadi Haiâ from Aamir Khanâs film âDilâ. Now Aamir Khan has apologized for such films and dialogues.
âWomen are made âitemsâ in filmsâŚâ
Talking to Aaj Tak, Aamir Khan said- âHindi films have not been that responsible, especially in the way we present men and women. When we show something wrong in films, we also show that its result is positive. Which is wrong and we often make women âitemsâ in films.
Aamir Khan expressed embarrassment
Aamir Khan further said- âEven the songs are like âTu Cheez Badi Hai Mast-Mastâ and even I am involved in it and I have done such films. âStanding like a pillar, is it a girl or a stick.â We are calling women âpillarsâ but not human beings. I am very embarrassed by this.
âItâs terrible that weâre doing thisâŚâ
Aamir further says, many societies in the world are patriarchal. India is one of them and the way we objectify women in our films, I have said this in my show âSatyamev Jayateâ. I have sung a song âKhambe Jaisi Khadi Hai.â In every sentence of this, women have been shown as something. So itâs terrible that weâre doing this.
