Sarfrosh: ‘Hosh walon ko khabar kya…’ and ‘Iss deewane ladke ko koi samjhaye’ are two such songs which were huge hits in the 90’s. Even today people like these songs and these songs are from the film Sarfarosh in which Aamir Khan and Sonali Bendre were seen in lead roles. The film Sarfarosh was released on 30 April 1999 and this time the film has completed 25 years, on which a special screening was organized in Mumbai on 10 May i.e. today.

Who was the makers’ first choice for ‘Sarfarosh’?
The film Sarfarosh was directed by John Mathew Matthan. John was the producer of this film. In an interview given to Indian Express, John had told that while he was having dinner in a resort in Rajasthan, he watched Aamir Khan’s film Dil. In one of the scenes, Aamir picks up Madhuri and then it came to John’s mind that this boy looks genuine and he cannot rape.
After this the same thing happened and he decided that he would do a film with Aamir which would be based on a true police officer. John also told in the interview that when he was taking opinion from his filmmaker friends on the cast of the film Sarfarosh, then people Shahrukh Khan Suggested name. He watched both action and romantic films of Shahrukh.
After this he told his friends, ‘Listen… Shahrukh is a good actor but he is not fit for the role of my police officer.’ However, John told that the makers tried hard to convince him and once it even came to his mind that let’s take Shahrukh but then he stuck to his Aamir decision.
Box office collection of ‘Sarfarosh’
Artists like Aamir Khan, Sonali Bendre, Naseeruddin Shah, Markand Deshpande, Mukesh Rishi were seen. Nawazuddin Siddiqui was also seen in a small role in the film. According to media reports, the budget of the film Sarfarosh was Rs 8 crore while the film made a spectacular collection of Rs 38 crore. People liked the story, songs and drama of the film very much.
