Abu Dhabi Police Arrested Kerala Man In Allegedly abscond 1.5 Crore From Lulu Group International


Lulu Mall: Abu Dhabi Police has arrested an Indian employee of Lulu Group in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This employee is accused of allegedly embezzling 600000 dirhams (about Rs 1.5 crore) from the company. This person hailing from Kerala was absconding since 25th of last month.

According to the report of Hindustan Times, this person has been identified as Muhammad Nias, who is 38 years old. Niyas hails from Kannur district of Kerala and worked as a cashier at Lulu Hypermarket in Khalidiyah Mall, Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi Police said that the accused was arrested in record time.

What did the police say?

Abu Dhabi Police said in a statement on April 5, “Regarding the details of the incident, it was clarified that the Al-Khalidiya Police Center in Abu Dhabi received a report from a business institution in Abu Dhabi, stating that the business institution Was robbed and embezzled by an employee. A criminal investigation was immediately carried out on the matter. Teams from Al-Khalediya Police Center collected information, which led to his arrest in record time and the investigation is moving forward. The prosecutor’s office is following the situation of the accused to take legal action.

“For its part, the business body thanked the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police for its prompt response to the report and expressed its pleasure at arresting the accused in record time,” it said. The embezzlement of money came to light when the employee did not report for duty on March 25. Subsequently, attempts to contact him failed as his phone was said to be switched off. Upon further inquiry by the company, the alleged embezzlement was detected and the same was duly reported to the police.
