96 percent (86 MLAs) of the new MLAs who won the Haryana Assembly elections are crorepatis. At the same time, 13 percent (12 MLAs) of the winning MLAs have criminal cases registered against them. This has been revealed in the analysis of Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Haryana Election Watch.
According to ADR, the affidavits of 90 winning candidates show that there has been a slight increase of three percent in the number of crorepati MLAs as compared to the last election. Of the 90 MLAs, 44 per cent have assets worth more than Rs 10 crore, while only 2.2 per cent have assets worth less than Rs 20 lakh.
Number of women MLAs increased by 10 percent
There are 14% women MLAs in the new House. This is more than 10% compared to 2019. In the election results declared on Tuesday, BJP performed brilliantly with 48 seats, winning 11 more seats than Congress. In this election, parties like JJP and AAP were wiped out and INLD got only two seats.
Savitri Jindal is the richest MLA
96 percent of BJP, 95 percent of Congress, INLD and 100 percent of independent winning candidates have declared assets worth more than Rs 1 crore.
- Independent MLA from Hisar Savitri Jindal tops the list with assets worth over Rs 270 crore. After him, BJP’s Shakti Rani Sharma is at second place with assets worth Rs 145 crore and Shruti Choudhary is at second place with assets worth Rs 134 crore.
59 percent increase in assets of re-elected MLAs
A total of 30 MLAs have been re-elected in 2024. Their average wealth has increased by 59 percent since 2019. As compared to earlier Rs 9.08 crore, it has now become Rs 14.46 crore.
In criminal cases, the top 12 independent MLAs have criminal records, out of which 6 have serious charges. One is accused of attempt to murder. In 2019, serious criminal cases were registered against only 7 people. 19% of Congress, 6% of BJP and 67% of independent winners have declared criminal cases against themselves.
