Just 15 days ago, the price of refined oil in the retail market was Rs 107 per liter, which has now increased to Rs 135 per liter. More or less, the condition of mustard oil is also the same.
Market trader Rajendra Birla told Local 18 that oil prices have increased in the domestic market due to the Centre’s increase in customs duty on edible oil. There has been a direct impact on the common people. According to traders, the price of Fortune 140, Soybean 130, Groundnut 180 to 190 and Mustard 160 to 170 rupees per liter. There has been an increase of approximately Rs 20 to Rs 75 in a tin of oil. After oil, flour has also become expensive. There has been an increase of three to five rupees per kg. A five kg bag of a branded company now costs Rs 170-175 instead of Rs 150. Before Diwali, edible oil, grocery, vegetables etc. have become expensive. Among dry fruits, cashews have gone from Rs 700 per kg to Rs 1000, almonds from Rs 550 to Rs 650-700, flower makhana from Rs 700 to Rs 1200 per kg.

Market trader Rajendra Birla said that inflation has increased in the last two months. The prices of household goods have increased by 30 percent after years. Grocery businessman Dinesh Patwari says that the continuously increasing prices of groceries is affecting the customer base. Despite it being the festive season, people are buying food items in small quantities only. There has also been a rise in the prices of other grocery items including ghee, flour, whole spices etc.
