After recharge plans became expensive, the record of SIM porting was broken, 100 crore mark was crossed

Mobile Number Porting Requests: Private telecom companies Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea had announced a hike in the prices of recharge plans on July 3, the beginning of this month. After the increase in the prices of tariff plans, people started trusting BSNL and the initiative to port started.

Meanwhile, BSNL’s statistics were released, which claimed that new customers are continuously joining BSNL. After this, a new report was released, which said that Indians have made a record in the matter of porting SIM.

Crossed the 100 crore mark

The Department of Telecommunication (DoT) provides mobile users the facility to change network providers without changing the number. For example, we tell you that if you are using an Airtel SIM and you are not happy with your network, then you can change to another service provider and this entire process is called porting.

According to the report of the Department of Telecommunication, till July 6, the mobile number portability service has crossed the figure of 100 crores. According to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), on an average, every month in India, about 1.1 crore requests are received for porting mobile SIMs.

Rules changed for SIM cards

Earlier, if a user’s SIM card was lost or damaged, he could immediately transfer his number to another SIM card. But now according to the new rules, users will have to wait for up to 7 days if they face this problem. Its purpose is to prevent SIM swapping fraud and strengthen security.
