A strange incident has come to light after the decorative neon butterflies in Agra Municipal Corporation. The engineers of the construction department of the Municipal Corporation started the construction work worth Rs 6 crore, even though the tender was not issued. These include construction work worth Rs 60 lakh at the power station intersection, while work worth Rs 5 crore is being done in three cow shelters.

Deputy Chairman of the Municipal Corporation Executive and Councilor Ravi Bihari Mathur alleges that Engineer RK Singh of the Construction Department has got the construction work done at the powerhouse intersection at a cost of Rs 60 lakh. The construction which was done with the Municipal Corporation’s money, belongs to the Cantonment Board and the Defense Estates Department. Both of them have also put up their respective boards at those places where the Cantonment Board is also charging parking fees. Whereas tenders were not floated for these.

Councilor Rakesh Jain has demanded an investigation into the works worth Rs 6 crore done without tender. He said that three cow shelters at Narayach, Shahdara and Sewla were constructed at a cost of Rs 5 crore. This is a big mistake. Councilor Hemant Prajapati has raised similar irregularities in the Municipal Corporation House.

He had objected to running the file without MB i.e. Measurement Book. According to Councilor Ravi Mathur, this matter is very serious and he will raise it in the Municipal Corporation House. In this matter, Chief Engineer of Construction Department BL Gupta said that this matter is not in his cognizance. Only the Executive Engineer will be able to tell about this.
