A student of the Institute of Social Sciences at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University had accused an assistant professor of molestation. Even after 21 days of the allegation, the university administration has not taken any action against the accused teacher. The Vishakha Committee of the university has submitted its report in the matter.

On May 24, a Master of Social Work (MSW) student of the Institute of Social Sciences (ISS) located at Paliwal Park of the university had accused Assistant Professor Dr. Rajiv Verma of molesting, abusing, assaulting and using casteist slurs.

The investigation of this case was handed over to the Vishakha Committee constituted under the guidelines of UGC. The committee recorded the statement of the victim student on 27 May. After this, the statements of the fellow students of the student, teachers and employees of the ISS institute and finally the accused assistant professor were recorded.

After recording the statements in the presence of Prof. Vinita Singh, member Deputy Registrar Mamta Singh, advocate Namrata Mishra, the institute’s Dr. Ranveer Singh, NGO member Suman Surana along with two student representatives, the committee submitted its report to the university administration.

However, even after 21 days of the incident, no action has been taken on the report of the Vishakha Committee. Registrar Dr. Rajiv Kumar said that another team has to recommend action based on the report of the Vishakha Committee. Action will be taken as soon as the team submits its report to Vice Chancellor Prof. Ashurani.
