Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University professor sued by research student by research student, accused of making obscene demands

A research student has filed a case against the Professor of Wildlife Science Department of Aligarh Muslim University making serious allegations. The girl student alleges that the professor made obscene demands from her in the name of submitting the research paper and threatened not to approve the research paper while protesting. Hurt by this, the student sent an online complaint to the DGP-SSP, taking cognizance of which the district police called the student and filed a case in the women’s police station after taking Tahrir.

According to the student originally from Badaun district, after passing the GATE exam in 2017, she enrolled in AMU and is pursuing PhD under the supervision of Professor Afifullah Khan. Working hard for five years, he collected valuable information and prepared a research paper. This research paper was submitted for filing 6 months ago. There was no comment on this from the supervisor Professor Afifullah Khan and other members of the department.

Supervisor verbally said that the research paper is not submittable. He won’t sign it. The girl student alleges that the invigilators keep an evil eye on her. Propose to call in private. Have also made obscene remarks about clothes, physical appearance etc. while being around orally. The professor made an obscene proposal in the name of research paper approval, which was opposed and he flatly refused to submit it. In this effort, the professor was contacted on May 1 and 2. But, he insulted her and threw her out of his room.

A complaint was made to the university administration in this regard, but no cognizance was taken. Later online complaint has been sent to DGP, SSP. Taking cognizance of this complaint, SSP handed over the case to CO III. After understanding the facts, took Tahrir from the girl student and filed a case in the matter on Saturday. Inspector Mahila Thana Sarita Dwivedi has confirmed the case and said that the investigation is on.
