A fire broke out in a room at Dori Nagar Budh Vihar in Gandhipark area in Aligarh on Friday night due to a mosquito repellent coil. Due to which one and a half year old innocent girl died due to suffocation. The parents also got burnt while trying to douse the fire. The condition of both is critical. Father has been referred to Delhi AIIMS. On Saturday, the police handed over the dead body of the girl to the family after post-mortem.

Manoj Varshney, a resident of Budhvihar, is a sweet and milk seller. Apart from his wife Bhavna, there were three daughters in the family, of whom Janvi, the youngest, was one and a half years old. Parents and younger brother Bhola also live together. On Friday evening the parents had gone for work, while the wife was cooking in the kitchen and Manoj was asleep in the room. Meanwhile, the elder daughter lit a mosquito repellent coil and placed it on the bed. Somehow a drawer kept there before the coil caught fire and the bed also caught fire. Youngest daughter Janvi was sleeping on the bed. When Bhavna saw the flames, she first woke up Manoj. Then they started taking out the goods. Later picked up the daughter from the bed. But by then the girl had died of suffocation.

In extinguishing the fire and saving the goods, the couple also got scorched and their condition also worsened due to suffocation. All three were hurriedly taken to the Medical College. Where the girl was declared dead. Manoj was referred to Delhi AIIMS in a critical condition, while the woman was brought to the trauma center in Quarsi. The condition of both is critical. According to Inspector Gandhipark Ravindra Kumar Dubey, the girl died due to suffocation. The condition of the parents is critical.

After a long time the attention of the parents went to the child

When this accident happened. Till that time no member of the family had any idea that the child was sleeping on the same bed. That’s why they kept on saving the goods. But when attention was paid to the child, she was lying unconscious. Seeing this, the mother fainted. But the girl had already died.

The coils used to repel mosquitoes are harmful. Its smoke promotes indoor pollution. This emits formaldehyde, which is equivalent to 51 cigarettes. There is a risk of cancer from this. Apart from this, there is a danger of fire due to its careless use. First of all, the problem of burning sensation in the eyes and headache starts in children.
