Expansion
There is a lot of discussion among the people about the decision of the central government to return 2000 notes, but this time there was no restlessness like the note ban in the year 2016. When bank customers reached some banks, they did not face any problem in exchanging notes and depositing money. On Saturday, Amar Ujala spoke to the residents of the city regarding the decision to take the 2000 note out of circulation, and they expressed different reactions to it.
Most believed that the general public would not find the 2000 note in large numbers, as its circulation had waned long ago. People belonging to the upper class, traders and businessmen can have 2000 notes. Four months is enough time to replace them. Even if someone has notes, he can do transactions with it. Counters will also be installed for this in the bank from May 23.
normal functioning of banks
Government’s announcement to withdraw 2000 notes is in discussion. Last time after demonetisation, there were scuffles with long queues outside bank branches. This time there is no possibility of such a situation. Despite working for half a day in most of the banks on Saturday, the functioning remained normal there. Only a few customers came to deposit the 2000 notes in the bank account. Normal day’s work was also seen in the main branch of SBI located at Ghantaghar. Punjab National Bank at Center Point, ICICI at Gandhi Park, Central Bank of India at Naurangabad, HDFC Bank branch at Ramghat Road were thronged with customers as usual. Same was the case with the ATMs in the city.
