Defence units will be set up rapidly in the five defence corridors of Uttar Pradesh. The Environment Ministry has approved the defence corridors of Lucknow, Kanpur, Aligarh, Jhansi and Chitrakoot. After this, the way for industrial development of these five defence corridors has been cleared. With this, an investment of Rs 20 thousand crore will be made rapidly in the first phase.

With the receipt of NOC, the way has opened for at least 2.70 lakh new jobs. On June 21, Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority informed about the environmental NOC for the five defense corridors. On January 18, the Ministry of Environment gave its in-principle consent and on June 21, written permission was received.

Now, explosive materials, weapons, tanks, cannons, ammunition, motor engines, helicopter and aircraft bodies, missiles, robotics, firing ranges, testing ranges, missile equipment, drones and electronic warfare equipment will be manufactured in these five nodes.

These five defence nodes will be equipped with facilities like water supply plant, waste management system, common effluent treatment plant, zero liquid discharge, air quality monitoring system and noise monitoring system.
