All India Shia Personal Law Board wrote letter to PM Narendra Modi Demanded security and arrangements for Muharram 2024


Muharram 2024: The All India Shia Personal Law Board has written a letter to PM Modi. Through this letter, they have demanded better security arrangements in Muharram processions. The letter states that Muharram processions should be taken out on the routes determined by the state governments. Also, security arrangements should be strengthened on the route of the processions, so that unruly elements cannot disturb the law and order.

In the letter, an appeal was made to PM Modi saying that as you are aware that Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), who along with his family and 72 companions had sacrificed their lives in the field of Karbala to save humanity. A 6 month old child was also included in this group. In memory of such a great personality, people of every religion including Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and all religions celebrate Muharram in the entire world including our India. You are to be informed that this year Muharram is starting from 8th July 2024.

Shia Personal Law Board wrote a letter to PM Modi

The letter said, “Along with the 7 to 8 crore Shia Muslim community spread across India, people of different religions also take out processions and Tazias in large numbers. Hence, it is humbly requested to you to kindly issue instructions to the state governments for its security and better arrangements. Security should be strengthened on the route of Muharram processions so that unruly elements cannot disturb the law and order. Keeping in mind the cleanliness of the roads and the intense heat, arrangements should be made for sprinkling water or water tanks at various places on the roads.”

Request made to PM Modi regarding Muharram

Apart from this, he appealed that on the occasion of Muharram, tall tazias are taken out on traditional routes all over India, in which many times people get electrocuted due to electric wires. Therefore, proper arrangements should be made on the route of tazias by directing the electricity department.

When does the month of Muharram start

He said that on Muharram, mourning organizations across the country including Uttar Pradesh stay awake all night and hold majlis (mourning meetings) in the memory of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) in Imambaras (religious places of worship) at various places. You are requested to kindly issue instructions to the Chief Ministers of every state to ensure that these majlis (mourning meetings) are conducted safely and security arrangements are made. Let us tell you that this time the month of Muharram is starting from 8th July.
