Aman Sehrawat wins Bronze Medal: India’s Aman Sehrawat has won the bronze medal in wrestling. He has raised the flag of India by defeating the wrestler from Puerto Rico by a huge margin of 13-5 in the men’s 57 kg weight category. This is India’s sixth medal in the Paris Olympics. Indian athletes have so far won a total of 6 medals including one silver and 5 bronze. Let us tell you that Aman was the only male wrestler in the Indian team in the 2024 Olympic Games and he has created history by winning the bronze medal in his Olympic debut.
In the bronze medal match, the wrestler from Puerto Rico took the initial lead, but sensing the situation, Aman Sehrawat made a strong comeback. The Indian wrestler was leading 4-3 by the end of the first round. Aman played a one-sided game in the second round and succeeded in bringing his opponent to his knees. In the end, 21-year-old Aman Sehrawat won the match by a margin of 13-5.
Maintaining a 16-year legacy
Let us tell you that India has been winning Olympic medals in wrestling every time since the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In 2008, Sushil Kumar created history by winning the bronze medal. After that, Sushil changed the color of his medal in 2012 and won silver and in the same year Yogeshwar Dutt won the bronze medal. When it was the turn of the 2016 Rio Olympics, Sakshi Malik won the bronze medal and also became the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal in the Olympic Games. In 2020, Ravi Dahiya and Bajrang Punia and now Aman Sehrawat have maintained this legacy.
