The view of the Earth from space is indeed fascinating, but it is not possible to see how it looks when it completes a day’s rotation on its own. But a satellite has done just that. A spectacular timelapse video of the Earth completing one rotation from the beginning to the end of the day has been recorded by the Himawari-8 satellite and shared on social media, which has left people amazed.
The footage shows a breathtaking view of the Earth rotating in space within a few seconds. The footage was shared on social media platform X by the account @wonderofscience. The post said that the Earth’s rotation over the entire day has been captured in which the planet is seen transitioning seamlessly from daylight to darkness.
The caption accompanying the post read, “The passage of a day on planet Earth as seen by satellite Himawari-8 from a distance of 36,000 kilometres (22,000 miles).” The video was shot from an altitude of 36,000 kilometres and gives an amazing view of the Earth’s daily cycle with sunlight seen moving around the globe. At one point, the sun was lighting up one side of the planet while the other side went into shadow.
