Amitabh Bachchan Birthday Special: Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have been together for years and inspire fans. The couple was married in 1973. He kept his marriage very simple and private. Only family members were involved in this marriage. Amitabh’s father, poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan had mentioned about the marriage of Amitabh and Jaya in his autobiography.
Jaya’s father had said such a thing
He had told that Jaya’s father was not happy with this marriage. Referring to the wedding day in the book, Harivansh Rai Bachchan wrote – Before leaving, I hugged the father of my new daughter-in-law and congratulated him for getting a son-in-law like Amit. Along with this, I had expected him to say the same but he said – My family has been ruined.
Jaya’s family was not happy
Apart from this, he had written – Jaya’s family decided that they will not hold the ceremony at their beach house and will hold it at a friend’s house. The marriage rituals were kept so secret that even their neighbors were not aware of it. Only relatives knew. Jaya’s father wanted to marry as per Bengali customs, with which we had no problem. First of all, Var Puja took place, in which Jaya’s father had to come to Amitabh’s house and complete the ritual by giving him a gift. I also tried to do the same for Jaya in the beach house and noticed something different in the beach house. Apart from Jaya, no one else looked happy at all.
Let us tell you that Jaya and Amitabh were married on June 3, 1973. It has been 51 years since their marriage. The couple are parents of two children, Abhishek and Shweta.
