More than six AMU students belonging to this group were arrested by the agencies in the last few days.

While working on IS, the name of AMU students’ organization SAMA (Students of Aligarh Muslim University) came to the notice of the agencies. In which information was exchanged and conversation took place through WhatsApp group. It was revealed that all the former and present students of AMU belonging to this group were found in contact with ISIS handlers and started working with IS. In this sequence, the agencies working on this Aligarh module of IS made arrests. After the arrest of the members of this group, the name of Harish Farooqui came to light as their Indian chief. Whose agencies were continuously searching.

Arrests of IS members started again

First of all, NIA arrested Faizan, an AMU student from Lohardaga, Jharkhand. His other accomplice was also caught later. Meanwhile, in October, the Special Cell of Delhi Police had arrested three people including Shahnawaz, Rizwan of Pune modules from different cities. Regarding him, it was revealed that some students associated with AMU’s student organization SAMA (Students of Aligarh Muslim University) are in contact with him. Based on the facts found in the investigation of Shahnawaz and Rizwan, UP ATS also registered a case on 3 November. In the same case, students Abdullah Arsalan and Maaz bin Tariq were arrested from Aligarh.

Former student Wajihuddin caught from Jharkhand. He used to run coaching here. Then former student Faraz appeared in the court, current student Abdul Samad Malik went to jail. Then Faizan was caught. Later Faizan Bakhtiyar, Naved Siddiqui, Arshad Warsi were arrested. Thus far, nine arrests have been made in the Pune module and a total of eleven have been arrested.
