Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker: Gold ornaments disappeared from the family temple of Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu. This temple is located in Narsipatnam. When the matter was investigated, it was found that the gold necklace of Goddess Maridi Mahalakshmi was replaced with a fake necklace.
According to a Deccan Chronicle report, the incident came to light after the temple’s assets were reviewed. On March 19, trustee Chintakayala Sanyasipattarudu handed over the genuine necklace of 390 grams of gold in the presence of endowment department officials. However, it soon came to light that a fraud had been committed. Following which the department ordered criminal action against the Executive Officer (EO).
How did the matter come to light?
Recently, the Endowments Department arranged to hand over the management of the temple to the family of Speaker Ayyannapatrudu. When the process of reviewing the temple’s jewellery was carried out, concerns were raised about the possible use of fake or gilt jewellery. In response, the Endowments Department lodged a complaint with the police.
The police have now begun investigating the case. Officials are currently probing the circumstances surrounding the exchange of the gold necklace and the possible involvement of temple officials in the incident.
