Released on November 11, 1988, “Tezaab” was a major hit at the box office and became the highest-grossing Indian film of the year. Running in theaters for more than 50 weeks, the film gave Chandra his third consecutive success after hits like “Ankush” and “Pratighat”.
The film became especially famous for its song “Ek Do Teen”, which topped the music charts and remains a classic even today. This film of Anil Kapoor was remade in Telugu as “Two Town Rowdy” starring Daggubati Venkatesh in the lead role and in Tamil as “Rojavai Kilathe” starring Arjun in the lead role.
