His younger brother Vajradhwaj was very cruel, unrighteous and unjust, who hated and hated his elder brother Mahidhwaj. To establish his supremacy over the kingdom, one night he killed his elder brother and buried his body under a peepal tree in the forest.

Once Dhoumya Rishi saw the ghost and found out everything about him through Maya. The Rishi brought the ghost down from the tree and preached him the knowledge of the afterlife. For his salvation, the Rishi kept the Apara Ekadashi fast and prayed to Shri Hari Vishnu for the king. Due to the effect of this virtue, the king was freed from the ghost form. The king was very happy and thanking the Rishi, he went to heaven.
Method of worship (Apara Ekadashi worship method)
- On Ekadashi, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped along with Lord Vishnu.
- If you observe a fast on this day, then after getting up in the morning and taking a bath, wear clean clothes.
- Then offer banana, mango, yellow flowers, yellow sandalwood, yellow clothes to Shri Hari Vishnu and chant Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay.
- Apply saffron tilak to Shri Hari and then apply tilak on yourself too. Then definitely recite Vishnu Sahasranama and read or listen to Ekadashi Vrat Katha.
- Make sure to offer Panchamrit and flour panjiri to Lord Vishnu. Also, make sure to offer Tulsi leaves in the offering made to Lord Vishnu.
