Apple doubles iPhone production in India earned most revenue last year

iPhone: The number of users purchasing iPhone in India has increased rapidly in the last few years. The craze of iPhone is continuously increasing in India and hence now Apple has decided to double the production of iPhone in India. This means that now Apple company will make twice as many iPhones as were made in India earlier.

iPhone production will double

In fact, according to a Bloomberg report, Apple has doubled its iPhone assembly in India to $14 billion compared to the last financial year, indicating a move to diversify beyond China. Reports have revealed that around 14% of Apple’s flagship devices are now made in India. The increasing production of American company Apple’s iPhone can reduce the dependence of the Indian smartphone market on Chinese companies.

However, it is worth noting that China remains Apple’s largest iPhone production center and recently Apple has also opened its second largest manufacturing plan in China. However, due to increasing competition from rivals like Huawei Technologies Co. and the ongoing ban on foreign technology in China, Apple’s revenue is continuously declining.

1,50,000 jobs created in India

On the other hand, India’s policy is completely different. India has allowed foreign companies to bring their technology, do production and do business in India, which is benefiting the foreign companies and the people of India are also benefiting from it. According to a government report, this resulted in creation of 1,50,000 direct jobs in Apple’s suppliers field, which will also bring some curb on the rising unemployment in India.

Foxconn Technology Group and Pegatron Corp assembled about 67 percent and 17 percent of iPhones made in India, respectively, in the fiscal year ending March 2024. The remaining iPhones were made at Wistron Corp’s plant in Karnataka, which was taken over by Tata Group last year. Tata plans to set up one of the largest iPhone assembly plants in the country. The $14 billion figure does not reflect the retail price of the iPhone but the estimated value of the device when it left the factory. However, Apple representatives refused to comment on this at present.
