Is the paneer pure or not, is the paneer fresh or old… these are some of the questions that often arise about paneer bought from the market. However, paneer can be made easily at home. But if you are single or have a shortage of time, then buying paneer from the market becomes a compulsion. In such a situation, you can check its purity at home by doing these 3 easy tests.

1. Iodine test: Boil the paneer a little in a pan and then pour iodine tincture over it. If the colour of the paneer remains the same after the tincture is drained, then your paneer is pure. But if this paneer turns blue, then understand that there is starch in this paneer and it has been made artificially.

2. Dal Test: Put water in a vessel, add paneer to it and boil it. Now turn off the gas and let it cool down a little. In this vessel, add one spoon of arhar dal (also called toor dal) along with paneer. If the water in the vessel starts turning light red, then understand that urea or detergent has been used in your paneer. But if it remains the same, then understand that your paneer is pure.

3. Test of texture and taste: Pure paneer gets easily crushed by hand. It also smells like milk. Fake paneer has a slight stretch. It feels like rubber and does not smell like milk.
