A soldier who had taken leave from the army in Agra, Uttar Pradesh and had gone to Kasganj to take Kanwar, drowned in the Ganga. Divers took him out in critical condition. His family admitted him to the military hospital, where the doctor declared him dead.
Kailash Chandra Sharma, a resident of Gokulpura mound of Loha Mandi police station area, was posted in Jaisalmer. Brother Kanhaiya Sharma said that Kailash Chandra was the third among six brothers. The family consists of his wife and two children. He had come home to take a vow to offer Kanwar. On Sunday, he had gone to Kachla Ghat in Soron to collect Gangajal in Kanwar.
Around 8:30 pm, he spoke to his family on a video call. He sent a photo of himself bathing in the Ganga. Soon after, the news of his drowning was received. His family reached the spot and took him to the military hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
