Asian Cup 2023: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are constantly at loggerheads over the conduct of the Asia Cup 2023. While the Pakistan Board wants to organize the Asia Cup in their country, the Indian Board has categorically refused to send its team to Pakistan. Now such news is coming out that Asia Cup will be organized in Pakistan only, in which matches can be organized only in some other country than India.
This time, keeping in mind the ODI World Cup, the Asia Cup will be played in the 50-over format. According to the report of ESPN Cricinfo, Pakistan can organize this event in its own country, in which India’s matches can be organized in another country, Dubai or Oman. According to this news, BCCI and PCB have now reached an agreement that the match between India and Pakistan will be played outside Pakistan.
Although it has not yet been confirmed where India’s matches will be held, but it includes the names of UAE, Oman and Sri Lanka, in which at least 5 matches will be organized in one of these places. The Asia Cup 2023 is to be organized in the month of September and immediately after that the ODI World Cup is to be organized in India in the month of October-November.
India and Pakistan in same group
India and Pakistan have been placed in a group in this year’s Asia Cup event, which will also include a qualifying team along with them. In the second group, apart from defending champions Sri Lanka, there will be teams from Bangladesh and Afghanistan. During the group stage, the top-2 teams in each group will enter the Super-4, due to which there is every possibility of at least 2 matches between India and Pakistan.
