Team India, Asia Cup 2023: In its first match of the Super-4 round of the 2023 Asia Cup, Team India emphasized on playing aggressive cricket against Pakistan. On the basis of aggressive half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, India had scored 147 runs for two wickets against Pakistan on Sunday, when due to rain the decision had to be taken to hold the game on a reserve day.
By the time the game was stopped due to rain at Premadasa Stadium, India had scored 147 runs for two wickets in 24.1 overs. The match will now start from here tomorrow at 3 pm. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are playing with 08 and 17 runs respectively.
This means that now Team India will take the field for three consecutive days. Actually, the India-Pakistan match could not be completed on Sunday, after which now this match will be played on Monday, 11th September. After this, the very next day on 12th September, Team India will play its second match of Super-4 against Sri Lanka.
After playing yesterday, the Indian team will have to play Sri Lanka in the next match of Super-4 in less than 24 hours. Let us tell you that all the teams will play three matches each in the Super-4 stage. After Pakistan, India has to play Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
On Sunday, against Pakistan, openers Rohit Sharma (56) and Shubman Gill (58) returned to the pavilion after scoring half-centuries. Rohit scored 56 runs in 49 balls, which included six fours and four sixes. Whereas Gill hit 10 fours in his innings of 52 balls. Both of them added 121 runs in just 100 balls.
India had scored 61 runs without any loss in the first powerplay itself. It is very rare that Afridi fails to take a wicket in the powerplay. Rain has continuously disrupted the matches in the Sri Lankan leg of the Asia Cup. Rain has been predicted in the Sri Lankan capital throughout the tournament.
