Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announces new policy to offer Insurance coverage for State Government employees


Assam Government: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a new insurance scheme for state government employees. In this, employees and their families get financial assistance in case of accident or untimely death. At the same time, the government has also signed an agreement with all the banks so that the insurance premium of all the employees can be deposited on time.

During a press conference in Lakhimpur, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that this scheme has been created to protect those state government employees who suffer accidental death or disability while on duty. This scheme covers accidents caused by road accidents, fire, floods and other disasters.

Regarding the new insurance scheme, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, ‘We have taken a historic decision to secure the future of our state government employees. Many of them face dangers every day. With this agreement, the family of the employees who suffer any accident will get the insurance amount in their salary account.’

He further said, ‘In this new insurance scheme, Rs 1 crore will be given to the family in case of accidental death and permanent disability, Rs 80 lakh for partial disability, and an additional Rs 10 lakh for death due to illness. This will provide financial help to the families.’

Know about this scheme

Under this scheme, in case of accidental death of an employee, an amount of Rs 1 crore will be given to the family. The same amount will be provided in cases of permanent disability, while Rs 80 lakh will be given for partial disability. Additionally, this scheme also covers death due to illness, in which an additional Rs 10 lakh is deposited in the account of the employee’s family.
