The police have pasted a notice of action before attachment to the house of IMC chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan and another accused, who are said to be the masterminds of the Bareilly riots. Also, two accused have been secretly sent to jail. It is believed that the police, who were avoiding the arrest of Maulana Tauqeer, have taken this secret action to save themselves from the court.

A few days ago, the court of ADJ Fast Track Ravi Kumar Diwakar had issued a non-bailable warrant naming Maulana Tauqeer Raza as the mastermind of the 2010 riots in Bareilly. Later the case was transferred to the district judge’s court. The High Court had directed Maulana to appear in the court, but when he did not appear, recently the court had issued notice of action under section 82 against four accused including Maulana and directed to take action. The hearing of the case is now on April 8.

Under this, the Premnagar police station, which was sitting idle till now, tried to make arrangements to save its face in the court on Sunday. The police pasted notices of 82 (pre-closure action) on the residence of Maulana Tauqeer Raza in Saudagaran as well as on the house of Waseem, resident of Bankhana. Along with this, two other accused, Arif, resident of Bankhana and Abrar, resident of Pipariya, Bhojipura, were arrested and sent to jail.
