Bohra and Aaga Khani Muslims have accused the Waqf Board of arbitrariness and property usurpation. They have been demanding a separate board for themselves for a long time. In the year 2023, the Aga Khan Shia Imami Council had alleged that the Maharashtra Waqf Board wants to usurp the properties of the Aga Khani Muslim community. After this, a situation of conflict arose between the two sides.
Know who are Bohras?
It is said that the word Bohra is related to the Gujarati word Vohru. It means to do business. People of this community are involved in business. People of this community are different from ordinary Muslims. The head of this community is called Syedna. They live in places like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chennai etc. Their population in the country is more than 20 lakhs. There are both Shia and Sunni Muslims in this community. Apart from India, their population is spread in countries like Pakistan, USA, Dubai, Arab, Yemen, Iraq etc.
The outfit is different
The dress of the Bohra community is also different. The men of this community traditionally wear a three-piece white dress. It consists of a tunic, which is called a kurta. There is an overcoat, which is called a saya. While the pants are called izaar. Men also wear white or golden colored caps. If we talk about women’s dress, then the dress of women is called Rida. Rida is prepared with bright colors, decorative patterns and lace. In this, the face of women is not completely covered. It has a thin membrane, which is called pardi. Rida can be of any color except black.
Know what the customs are
In this community, outside marriages are almost non-existent. Other people cannot enter their mosques. The women of this community are highly educated. There was a practice of female circumcision in this community. A large section of this community considers it inhuman. In this, the clitoris of girls is cut off when they are seven years old.
Know who are Agakhani Muslims
Aghakhani Muslims are a part of Shia Muslims. They are followers of Ismail bin Jafar, son of Imam Jafar as Sadiq. Their religion is also quite different. They do not offer Namaaz five times a day. They are also called Ismaili, Khoja Muslim and Nizari Muslim. These people mainly live in Central and South Asia, Middle East, Europe, Africa, North America and Australia. Their population is 1.5 crores all over the world.
Muslims of this community pray in Jamatkhanas. Women of this community also pray along with men. They do not observe fasts during the entire month of Ramzan. They do not even go on Hajj.
