In Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, awareness programmes were organised across the district on Partition Horrors Memorial Day. A speaking picture exhibition based on Partition Horrors was organised in Shaheed Park located in the Nagar Palika. Tributes were paid to the brave martyrs who sacrificed everything to gain independence by observing two minutes of silence. Students were given information in seminars organised in schools and colleges.
District Magistrate Avinash Krishna Singh said that when the country became independent in 1947 after a long struggle, the demand for partition of the country gained momentum. On 14 August 1947, the country had to suffer the pain of partition. When India-Pakistan was divided, that pain can never be forgotten.
