Ayesha Jhulka Apporaches HC: ‘Kurbaan’ and ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’ fame actress Ayesha Julka has approached the Bombay High Court, demanding an early hearing in the case of the mysterious death of her pet dog Rocky. The actress’s six-year-old dog was found dead under suspicious circumstances in her Lonavala bungalow in September 2020. The hearing in this case has not started even after four years.

Pet dog died under mysterious circumstances in 2020
On September 13, 2020, the caretaker working at the actress’ bungalow in Lonavala had told her that her pet dog had died by drowning in a water tank. However, the actress suspected something fishy and sent the body of her pet dog Rocky for post-mortem. Had sent for. Veterinarians are of the opinion that the dog died due to suffocation/strangulation and the evidence does not support that it was a case of drowning.

The caretaker was arrested
After this, Ayesha lodged an FIR on September 17, 2020 and a few days later, caretaker Ram Nathu Andre allegedly confessed to the police that he had strangled the dog while intoxicated. He was arrested on 25 September and sent to jail but he got bail after two days. A charge sheet was also filed in the case by Maval police on January 7, 2021.

Hearing in the case has not started even after four years
Ayesha Julka’s petition, filed through lawyer Harshad Garud, states that the trial in the case has not yet started, even after four years, it is still waiting for the magistrate court to take cognizance of the charge sheet. In February 2021, the actress filed an application for interference in the court proceedings and the hearing is still pending in the magistrate court. During the investigation, the blood stained bedsheet was also sent to the forensic lab in Pune and the report is still awaited. Julka’s legal team was informed that there was no staff to collect the report.

Ayesha Julka appealed to the High Court for justice
Ayesha Julka has also complained to the Directorate of Prosecution, Mumbai that no appropriate steps have been taken by the government lawyer to prosecute her. Only after no action was taken in the matter, Julka has now filed a petition in the High Court. During Friday’s hearing, the bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Manjusha Deshpande directed the actress to approach the single bench for further proceedings, as it observed that the case should be heard by a single judge bench. .
