Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Gorakhpur are being developed as solar cities. Uttar Pradesh can now become a major center of renewable energy in the country. Bundelkhand and Vindhya have the highest potential for production of solar energy. The CM was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the 70 MW Avada Solar Power Project set up in Banda on Friday through virtual medium.
The Chief Minister said that the inauguration of this plant is the beginning of a new chapter of bringing the investment proposal received during the Uttar Pradesh Global Investment Summit to fruition. More than four hundred people will get employment through this. Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, solar panels are to be installed on 25 lakh houses in the state.
Under this, 18 lakh registrations have been done so far. He said that the state government is taking forward the green energy program of about 22 thousand megawatts. For this, 23 thousand acres of land bank has been identified by UPNEDA of the state. The government is taking this campaign forward in the sequence of Solar and Bio Energy Policy-2022 and Green Hydrogen Policy-2024.
He said that like Bundelkhand, Avaada Group should explore the possibilities of setting up plants in other areas as well. Bundelkhand can become an important source of renewable energy. During this, Energy Minister AK Sharma, Minister of State for Energy Somendra Tomar, Minister of State for Jalshakti Ramkesh Nishad, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh and Avaada Group chief Vineet Mittal were present.
