Ramlala-Mata Sita Idols to Be Made from Shaligram: The construction work of Ram Mandir is in full swing in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Special Shaligram stones have been brought from Nepal to Ayodhya for the idols of Ramlala (Lord Rama in child form) and Mother Sita. Why the idol of Siyaram will be made from Shaligram stone, such curiosity is in the mind of many people.

According to the religious and mythological beliefs of Sanatan Dharma, the Shaligram stone is sacred and also the abode of Lord Vishnu. Mother Tulsi and Lord Shaligram are mentioned in mythological texts. Many people also worship it in the form of Shivling. There are also special rules in Hinduism for establishing Shaligram and worshiping God through it. This is the reason why idols of Lord Rama and Mother Sita made of Shaligram stone will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. It is being told that the Shaligram rocks brought to Ayodhya are about six crore years old.

Siyaram’s idols will be made from 40 ton boulders

Shaligram stones are very rare, which are not found everywhere. These are found in the Kali Gandaki river of Nepal. The place where Shaligram stone is found is also known as Shaligram area. The total weight of the two big boulders of Shaligram brought to Ayodhya is 40 tonnes. The weight of one of these is 26 tonnes and the weight of the other is 14 tonnes. It took seven days to bring them from Nepal to Ayodhya. They have been brought to Ayodhya from Janakpur in Nepal, considered to be the birthplace of Mother Sita.

What does science say about Shaligram?

In science Shaligram has been considered as a kind of fossil which is of 33 types. According to science, Shaligram is a black colored ‘ammonoid shell fossils’ of ‘Devonian-Cretaceous Period’. It is said that the Devonian-Cretaceous period was 60 million years ago. This was the period when 85 percent of the earth was covered with water.

What is a fossil?

Fossil is made up of two words Jeev + Ashm. In this, the meaning of ashma is ‘stone’. If thought in this way, the meaning of fossil is that such an organism has become a stone. In English fossil is called Fossil. Shaligram stones are very strong and craftsmen are able to carve fine details on them. Shaligrams are of many colors but the golden and flame-rich Shaligram stone is the rarest.

Religious importance of Shaligram stone

There are 33 types of Shaligrams, out of which 24 are associated with the 24 incarnations of Lord Vishnu. This is the reason why Shaligram is considered to be the form of Lord Vishnu.

What is the significance of the shape of Shaligram?

According to religious beliefs, if Shaligram is round then it is considered as Gopal form of Lord Vishnu. If it is in the shape of a fish, then it is considered a symbol of Matsya Avatar. Tortoise shaped Shaligram is considered to be the symbol of Kurma and Kachhapa avatar. The chakras and lines emerging on Shaligram are also said to have special significance. The chakras and lines embossed on the stone are considered to be symbols of other incarnations and forms of Lord Vishnu because there is a symbol of a chakra in Vishnu ji’s mace form. There are two signs in Laxminarayan form, three in Trivikram form, four in Chaturvyuh form and five in Vasudev.

In Mahabharata, Lord Krishna told Yudhishthira the virtues of Shaligram. According to Vaishnavas Shaligram is the ‘abode of Lord Vishnu’ and whoever keeps it should worship it daily.

Where are the idols made of Shaligram?

The idols of 4 big temples of India are also made from Shaligram Shila. These include Krishna Math of Udupi, Radha Raman Temple of Vrindavan, Padmanabhaswamy Temple of Thiruvananthapuram and Badrinath Temple. Please tell that the idol of Ramlala will be made in Ayodhya of 5 to 5 and a half feet. It is being told that on the day of Ramnavami, the rays of the sun will fall directly on the forehead of Ramlala.
