The entire story of the harassment done during the evacuation of Abrar Hussain’s house in Dungarpur is recorded in the 59 page judgement that came on Thursday. The court has sentenced Azam to 10 years of imprisonment. This is the maximum sentence in the six cases in which Azam has been sentenced so far. Earlier, he was sentenced to seven years in two cases, two years in two cases and three years in one case.

To prove the allegations in this Dungarpur case, the prosecution presented nine witnesses including the plaintiff, who confirmed the incident. The prosecution demanded strict punishment in this case. In 2019, 12 cases of looting, robbery, assault and intimidation were registered in Ganj police station in the name of evacuating Dungarpur colony.

The court’s verdict has been announced in four cases. The verdict in eight cases is pending. On Thursday, the court announced its verdict in the case filed by Dungarpur Basti resident Abrar Hussain. In its verdict, the court mentioned the statements of witnesses presented by the prosecution and the precedents set by the High Court and the Supreme Court.

The defence mentioned the documentary evidence and written arguments submitted by it and the precedents of the Supreme Court and High Court. In its verdict, the court sentenced SP leader Azam Khan to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 14 lakh. Contractor Barkat Ali was sentenced to seven years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 6 lakh.
