India’s Most Expensive Web Series: From Bollywood to South Film Industry, till now many such films have been made whose budget was surprising. The makers have taken a risk by investing huge amounts like Rs 100 crore and Rs 200 crore. Many times this step of his proved to be good for him and sometimes this risk also proved costly for him. But a maker spent crores of rupees not on a film but on a web series but that series could never be released.
Both parts of SS Rajamouli’s film ‘Baahubali’ were successful at the box office. After this the director decided to make a prequel to the ‘Baahubali’ film series. The series was named ‘Bahubali: Before the Beginning’. This series was based on the books written by Anand Neelkanthan. Actresses like Ramya Krishnan and Mrinal Thakur were included in this series.
Shooting started in the year 2018
‘Baahubali: Before the Beginning’ was the story of Sivagami. Its shooting started in the year 2018 when Netflix was strengthening its foothold in the world of OTT. The first season of the series was inspired by the book The Rise of Sivagami and Mrunal Thakur was to play the role of Young Sivagami. Rahul Bose and Atul Kulkarni were also part of the series.
Series not released till date
If reports are to be believed, the makers had invested Rs 100 crore in this series of SS Rajamouli. But after three years, Netflix decided to start it afresh. At that time Mrunal Thakur withdrew her hand from the series and then Vamika Gabbi took her place. When the series started for the second time, Rs 200 crores were spent in it and thus the makers spent Rs 300 crores for this series.
The budget was more than ‘Hiramandi’
‘Bahubali: Before the Beginning’ was one of the expensive series of India. The budget of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming web series ‘Hiramandi’ is also Rs 200 crore and in this matter SS Rajamouli’s series went ahead but it went on the back burner and could not be released till date.
