Turvai Nath alias Bunty (35), the priest of the Pathwari temple located in the forest of Mau in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, was killed by a Baba by hitting him with a shovel on Friday night. After the murder, he himself reached New Agra police station. Told that the priest was killed with a shovel. When the police reached the temple along with the accused Baba, they found the priest’s blood soaked body lying there. On getting information about the incident, the villagers also came to the temple.

The priest Turvai Nath Raya was a resident of Mathura. He was staying and worshiping at the Pathwari temple in Mau for the last five years. Had returned from his house in Raya only two months ago. The temple is in a secluded place outside the village, hence there is less movement of people in the evening. On Friday evening, Baba Shitaladas, who had come from Bhind about 20 days ago, had a dispute with the priest at the temple over some issue.

ACP Taj Security Arib Ahmed said that at around 10 pm the accused Baba reached the police station and informed about killing the priest with a shovel. The police took him into custody. The priest’s face and neck were hit with a shovel. The villagers told that Baba was drunk.

Dharanath, the priest of Anandi Bhairon temple located in Mau also reached the spot. He told that Turvai Nath was a disciple of his guru Nirvatinath Maharaj. Was a priest in the temple located in Mau for the last five years. ACP said that a case is being registered on the complaint of the priest of Anandi Bhairon temple. After the incident, the forensic team also collected evidence from the temple.
